When I joined the Michigan State family 5 years ago, at age 18, I had no idea what it was that I wanted to do after college. My mom was a coach for Michigan States volleyball team, while my dad worked in the athletic department, and finally my brother was working real-estate. Meanwhile entering college the only thing I could think about was basketball and more basketball. After actually realizing I had to go and live in the real world one day I started thinking about what I can see myself doing after college. During my junior year I figured the past three years I was procrastinating when it came to thinking about jobs when in reality I wasn't at all. I finally realized to myself that coaching has always been in my DNA thanks to mother and is something that I really would love to do and would be very passionate about. Three things that I am looking forward to doing later in my coaching career is help teach and guide young men the direction both on and off the field.

Goal 1- Get the Job

The first step in the process for my goals since I have not left school yet is simply figuring out a way to get a coaching job. Coaching is a job that is not easy to get in which is why I would love possibly getting some help from the current basketball staff at Michigan State which I'm hoping would work out after am currently finishing up with my last currently wrapping up my final season as a spartan. I could find myself getting a Graduate Assistant Job, and working with the athletes as much as possible and hopefully be under an incredible coaching staff where I could learn and gather a few of their coaching tactics. Hopefully  this will help me figure out what coaching styles or philosophies I would use if I get a coaching job in the future. If I am unable to get a G.A. job anywhere I am also very interested in starting my career at the high school level and trying to build my way to the Varsity Level. Starting out as a freshman coach or even an assistant. I would be ok with waiting for the right opportunity when it presented itself.

Goal 2- Educate my student athletes

After fulfilling my initial goal by becoming a coach the next goal I would have is to educate my student athletes both on and off the court. It is important for my athletes to understand that for everybody, at some point in their lives, the ball os going to stop bouncing. Educating and molding these kids into young men and help get them ready for the future is my primary focus. I want to see the very best for all of my future athletes. I want to see them succeed in whatever it is they want to be successful in. I think it is important to show my kids how hard work is one of common denominators between a successful team and an unsuccessful team. Also it is important to teach each individual that in order to be the best player you can be, you have to put in a lot of time and extra time in order to be the best.

Goal 3- Sustain success

My third and final goal is to ultimately to have success and be able to sustain it for a long period of time. This is something that every coach is aiming for at a high level. At the end of the day, you want to help the kids you coach to the best of your ability. You wont be able to do that if you don't have success because coaching is apart of a business and you will no longer have a job. So in order to complete my second goal to the best of my ability, I have to be successful. Teaching my student athletes the proper way to compete and play the game of basketball is something I believe I can be very good at and is something I am looking forward to.
